Angler Phishing

Angler Phishing

A recent trend where cyber criminals pose as customer support representatives of various organisations on social media platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook. Here they can initiate an interaction with a target under the pretext of helping them whilst also extracting personal information. For example, Twitter’s direct message service might be used by social engineers to get a bank customer who is experiencing an issue with their bank account to divulge their credit card and pin number.
